About some of our favorite regular suppliers and breeds

Llanwenogs from Gloucestershire

Picture
Llanwenog are one of those hard to come by breeds that is equally revered for great meat and wool. They lamb well, have hardy mountain genes allowing them to prosper on any pastures. Spring lambs slaughtered in Autumn are verging on hogget so a great time for eating, with lamb tenderness and full real flavour. Walkers Farm in Gloucestershire.

Gloucester Old Spots

In 2010 Old Spot became the only breed of any species in the world to be awarded by the EU Commission with Traditional Specialty Guaranteed Status. Always producing excellent pork and bacon, Old Spots are ideal for living free-range all year round.

Originating from the apple orchards of Berkley Vale in the early 19th century, Old Spots are a Rare Breed Survival Trust success story, pedigree animals were seriously endangered until the very late 20th century when promotion of their eating quality brought numbers back upto the largest on the Watchlist.  So lets eat more Old Spot pork and keep the breed live.
